Keene’s Advanced Cyclist Will Get You On The Road

KEENE, N.H. - Spring is in the air and whether you need to be properly fitted for a new bike, or to get your bike tuned up for the summer, Advanced Cyclist is ready to help everyone in the Monadnock Region and beyond, get you on the road. Located at 597 Lower Main Street in Keene, Advanced Cyclist not only offers top of the line bicycles such as Cervelo and Mirin.

The Canadian manufactured Cervelo road bikes use computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel testing to create their three series of bikes including the multi-shaped R series, the S series road bikes and the triathlon/time trial P series. While the California based Miran manufactures full-suspension mountain bikes that utilize steel frames for their conventional hard-tail bikes.
Advanced Cyclist offers a full line of clothing from Castelli and Louis Gareanu including men’s and women’s shorts, bibs, jackets, vests, gloves, socks and headwear. They also carry a wide range of saddles including Selle Italia, bicycle tires by Vittoria and Continental and of course, parts and a full service repair shop.
Owner, Ben Berman, has been into cycling all his life and after himself, not having a very good experience purchasing a bike, was inspired to launch his own shop in order to give cyclists a more complete and through buying experience. “I had bought a bike and frankly, it just wasn’t a good fit which of course, affected my whole riding experience,” Ben Berman said in a recent interview.
“So, I brought the bike back and got another one, but it didn’t get any better because there was never a proper fitting process completed. There are a lot of variables involved in the proper fitting process of purchasing a bike and it is common for bike shops to not complete the process.”
Berman opened the new shop in March and has been steadily growing a clientel not only in the Keene area, but also across the country and even internationally. “Riding is all about being comfortable,” Berman said. “If you are uncomfortable when riding and do not have the proper fit, you will not have much fun and your bike may just end up in the garage... it’s that important!”
Advanced Cyclist uses an advanced bike system process to fit every customer – whether it’s a pro, road or trail bike fit – using a laser system that aligns everything from the rider’s knee to pedal, frame angles and seat positioning. “We work with all our customers to ensure satisfaction, from the local riders just starting out, to experienced customers across the country and internationally,” Berman said.
“We also offer the Curvelo Rca series, the lightest production bicycle frame in the world with a limited edition run of 325.” The Project California Rca frameset integrates category-defining light weight and ride quality, with superior dynamics.
Advanced Cycle also offers a complete bike parts and repair service which includes everything from ordering individual parts and a mail order service, to performing standard tune-ups, to offering a complete restoration process in which the bike frame is stripped down and re-furbished. If there is an issue with your bike, they will fix it. “In the near future,” Berman added, “We will also be planning a group ride starting at the shop, as well as a cross race.”
